WHAT IS A DUCK
RACE? Thousands of brightly
colored yellow ducks floating down the Erie Canal as people cheer their
adopted ducks and hope they “win” first prize $1000.00 second prize
$500.00 third prize $250.00 and 25 others prizes.

IS THE RACE SCHEDULED?
June 13th
2009 race time approx. 1p.m.
WHERE
WILL THE RACE BE HELD?
The ducks will race in the
Erie Canal in the Village
of Newark, NY.,
starting from the Main Street Bridge.
WHO IS CONDUCTING THE RACE?
The
Newark Volunteer Fire Department Assoc. Inc..
WHY ARE WE HOLDING IT?
Raise funds for The Newark Firefighters.
The Village of Newark is served by 100% Volunteers
HOW
DOES IT WORK?
People donate $5 to
adopt a duck. They
receive numbered tickets matched to their ducks. On race day, we release
the numbered ducks into our race site on the Erie Canal, and the first
duck to cross the downstream finish line wins the grand prize of
$1000.00 for the person who adopted it. Several other
prizes will include fabulous items from local merchants and
sponsors. You do not have to be present to win any of the several prizes
we will be there for you.
WHY
PLASTIC DUCKS? The
bathtub toys provide a colorful and fun focus for the event. Plus we can
retrieve them and use again next year if this year is a successful
event. Duck races have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for
charities around the world.
